Does a Tinnitus Formula really work?

Is a Tinnitus formula for you?

I am a person that thinks carefully before I try any new vitamins, minerals, amino acids, etc. I realize that taking anything in moderation is good, but taking an added amount of one particular thing every day may lead to an overabundance in your body. Over the years I have settled on a few supplements that work well for me and that I consume on a regular basis. One of the supplements that I take on a daily basis is a formula for Tinnitus.

Oh My Ringing Ears!!TinnitusBooks

I have been affected by ringing ears for 5-6 years now and have found it to be extremely distracting and irritating. Of course my visits to an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) doctor resulted in the diagnoses of Tinnitus. If you’ve been diagnosed with Tinnitus then you already know that it is an extremely frustrating ailment.

Symptoms of Tinnitus

It seems that each individual has their own assessment of what Tinnitus sounds like, and not all hear the same noises. Some common descriptions from affected individuals include ringing, hissing, whooshing, buzzing, whistling, clicking and many others. In my particular instance, I always hear the ringing and it is continuous. At times it will increase or decrease in volume, but it is always there. It does seem louder when I am in a quiet environment – due of course to the fact that other noise detracts from the ringing. Other people cannot hear this noise, as it is internal only.

Are These Symptoms Always Related to Tinnitus?

Well, the short answer is no. While the most common cause of tinnitus is prolonged exposure to extremely loud noise (chainsaws, jackhammers, loud music), there are many other health issues that cause ringing or buzzing ears. For example, I have a family history of benign tumors in the middle ear, so when I first heard the ringing I was sent for an MRI to determine if there were underlying causes. Other health issues that can cause these symptoms include high blood pressure, meniere’s disease, temporomandibular joint (TMJ), thyroid disease, and many others. So if you have tinnitus symptoms, please do not ignore them!

Are there any remedies for tinnitus?

Tinnatus affects more than 50 million adults in the United States. Many cases of tinnitus can be resolved if they are caused by an accompanying medical issue. For example if your tinnitus is caused by TMJ, then treating the TMJ may improve and/or eliminate the tinnitus. However, there are few options for those of us that have tinnitus unrelated to medical issues. Some physicians will prescribe a mild anti-anxiety medication. Many individuals will purchase a sound machine for sleeping, since the soothing sounds will mask the tinnitus noise. Other options include biofeedback and cognitive therapy. If your tinnitus is severe then you will want to explore these and any other options with your physician.

My Experience & Recommendation

Shortly after my tinnatus was diagnosed I picked up a brochure on the Arches Tinnitus Formula product and decided to try it. After a few weeks time I noticed that my ringing, although always present, took on a lower volume and was not nearly as distracting. That was about 4-5 years ago and I have been taking it every day since! I feel like my tinnitus is very manageable and I can live with this level of noise. You should know that if I stop taking this formula then within a few days I have a noticeable increase in my symptoms. So, I just make sure that I always have a supply!

I am sure that this supplement will not work on everyone with tinnitus, but it is definitely work trying as you could be one of the more fortunate ones (like me). If you decide to try this product, read all of the materials first and always notify your doctor.

Should You Buy a FitBit Flex? My Review.

I Finally Purchased My First FitBit Device, the FitBit Flex.

I am not a person that jumps on the bandwagon for the latest and greatest exercise or tracking gadget. But after numerous attempts to track my walking with clip-on pedometers, I thought I should give one of the FitBit devices a try.  I opted for the FitBit Flex.

FitbitImageI have had my Flex for about a month now and I am really loving it.  It has helped me realize how much (or little) I am walking.  And since I now have that information at my fingertips,  I have definitely increased my number of steps per day.  I discovered that in the past I was rarely walking the recommended 10,000 steps per day, and even my walking trail was only averaging about 4,000 steps.  But since I have this Flex, I have missed my 10,0000 step goal only twice (these were all day events where I had to sit and arrived home too late to get much walking in)!  So here is information about the Flex.  You can skip the information and go directly to my summary chart at the end.

Four (4) Reasons To Avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup

Is HFCS actually bad for you?

youonadietAnyone interested in maintaining good health knows that there is an ongoing discussion about HFCS and whether or not to avoid it. The Corn Refiners Association maintains beautiful websites with a wealth of information on HFCS that includes their opinion that eating HFCS is no worse than eating too much sugar.

But many respected sources warn against eating this corn based substance for several reasons. If you look at research and books written by Dr. Mehmet Oz (You On A Diet for example) and Dr. Mark Hymanbloodsugar (The Blood Sugar Solution for example) they agree that HFCS is not processed in your body the same way as sugar and that you should avoid it when possible.

Better Health by Avoiding These 9 Foods!

Can We Really Call Our Foods ‘Food’?

Most of us already know that our food supply is heavily polluted from many perspectives.  Our meats typically come from animals that are given growth hormones and antibiotics.  Our fruits and vegetables have been treated with pesticides and grown in chemically treated soils.  Our processed foods include MANY ingredients that are artificial – colorings, flavorings, preservatives, and much  more.  And of course, here in the USA, as much as 80% of our processed foods contain Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs).  Can we really call this food?

9 Very Unhealthy Foods to Avoid

When it comes to your health, it is best to not eat these 9 foods!

Canned foods contain Bisphenol A (BPA), which is a chemical used to make certain plastics and also to coat the inside of many metal products including food cans.  While BPA should be avoided generally, canned tomatoes should be specifically avoided.  The high acidity level in tomatoes causes the BPA chemical to seep into the tomato product.

Whey Protein Shakes – Why Should I Drink Them?

With so much in the news about whey shakes it’s good to understand what whey is and the benefits to consuming whey.

320px-Separating_the_curd_and_wheyWhat is whey?

Whey is the watery part of milk that is leftover after the formation of curds during cheese production. I know that sounds gross but whey has a lot of benefits.  Once whey is isolated and dried though purification processes it can then be used as a nutritional supplement.  This whey protein supplement is most often found in powder form.
